The Lagos State Police Command has affirmed the detention of Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, a music promoter, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Afrobeats singer Mohbad.

This development transpired within a day after Naira Marley expressed his readiness to return to Nigeria to aid the investigation.
In a released statement, Naira Marley addressed the numerous unfounded allegations surrounding Mohbad’s demise, who was known by his real name, Ilerioluwa Aloba.
Following Mohbad’s passing, public attention focused on Larry due to past social media posts by the late singer, raising concerns.
Though specifics regarding Larry’s apprehension were not disclosed by Hundeyin, online reports suggest he was apprehended upon arriving in the country.
Similar to Larry, there have been demands for the arrest of Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, due to alleged conflicts with the late Mohbad, who had parted ways with Marlian Records in 2022 under strained circumstances.
Responding to the allegations on Tuesday, the record label owner stated, “I’m dedicated to proving my innocence and I’m cooperating with the authorities to clear my name with sufficient evidence.”
The police investigation commenced last week, including an autopsy on Mohbad, with a commitment to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the singer’s passing.
