Lawal had spoken for several minutes before falling to the floor, prompting several lawmakers to rush to his aid.
Lawal was one of the three new ministerial nominees being screened by the Senate at that time.
The other nominees were Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim from Kwara State and Mr. Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
After the incident, the Senate went into a closed-door session, and efforts were made to revive the nominee, who remained inside the chamber.
