Umaru Mohammed, a former Group Managing Director of Nigerian Army Properties Limited (NAPL), has been sentenced to seven years in military detention.

He was found guilty of 14 out of the 18 count charges.

The charges included forgery, misappropriation of funds, and conspiracy.

The court also ordered him to refund $2.17 million and N1.06 billion that he had stolen from the company.

The court based its decision on the provisions of the Criminal Code Act and the Armed Forces Act.

For various counts, Mohammed received sentences ranging from five to seven years in prison. He also received orders to repay the misappropriated funds.

The defense counsel requested that he be moved to a custodial center rather than a military detention facility, which the court rejected.
