Lagos to carry out psychiatric evaluation on ‘One Way’ traffic offenders

“The menace of driving against the flow of traffic is worrisome and the state government is determined to curb it."

The Lagos State Government has announced a stringent measure against traffic violators engaging in the dangerous practice of driving against the flow of traffic, commonly known as ‘One Way’.

During the 2024 ministerial briefing on the state’s transportation activities, Commissioner Oluwaseun Osiyemi affirmed that offenders caught in this act would undergo psychiatric evaluation tests.

According to Osiyemi, while speaking during the event held at Alausa Ikeja, “The menace of driving against the flow of traffic is worrisome and the state government is determined to curb it.

“Henceforth, any offender apprehended will be taken for psychiatric test as well as prosecuted according to Lagos State Traffic laws.”

While condemning the activities of fake personnel across the metropolis, who he said usually claim to work for the Ministry of Transportation, MOT, Osiyemi released some hotlines – 09020009000, and 09020004000, for people to report such activities to relevant authorities.

He said the lines can also be used for reporting traffic situations around the metropolis.
