The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has initiated the removal of a five-floor structure.
The structure is situated at 7, BreadFruit Street on Lagos Island due to violations of construction regulations.
Gbolahan Oki, the General Manager of LASBCA, announced this through a statement.
The statement was issued by Adetayo Akitoye-Asagba, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs at LASBCA.
Oki stated that the demolition is part of their efforts to combat illegal construction, prevent building collapses, and ensure public safety.
The building’s owner had not obtained the necessary approvals from LASBCA. They had also disregarded warnings and notices to halt the construction.
Records indicate that the developer’s request for a development permit was rejected as the area is under the supervision of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency.
Oki emphasized that LASBCA is dedicated to enforcing building construction regulations and ensuring that new buildings are safe for habitation.
He urged property owners and developers to adhere to the state’s building codes.
