Labour declares nationwide strike Nov 8 over assault on Ajaero

Organized labor has declared a nationwide strike on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in response to the alleged assault on the national president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, in Imo State on Monday.

The deputy president of the NLC, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, and the deputy president of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), during a joint press briefing in Abuja, presented a six-point list of demands to the federal government in order to prevent the impending strike.
