Kingmakers okay Olakulehin as next Olubadan

A letter will be sent to Governor Seyi Makinde requesting government approval before Olakulehin is crowned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The Olubadan-in-Council has certified the Olubadan designate, High Chief Owolabi Olakulehin, as fit to succeed as Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The declaration was made by the Olubadan-in-Council following a special meeting with the Olubadan-designate at Olubadan’s Oja-Oba palace in Ibadan on Friday.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), ten Olubadan-in-Council members attended the meeting, while the Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abimbola Ajibola, who allegedly stated that Olakulehin was unfit, did not attend.

Following the meeting, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, told reporters that members of the Olubadan-in-Council had done their part as Ibadan kingmakers.

According to him, a letter will be sent to Governor Seyi Makinde requesting government approval before Olakulehin is crowned as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland.

“After the governor’s consent, a day for the coronation will be announced. We thank everyone for the support, as we pray that all of us will be alive to witness the coronation,” he said.
