Kehinde Bankole, a Nigerian actress and television host, recently shared her perspective on accepting a nude role in films during an interview on the Duke Rants podcast.
In a clip that has since gone viral, Bankole was asked about her boundaries in acting, particularly concerning nudity.
The actress said that she would only consider such a role if it was crucial to the storyline and necessary for the development of her character. “As far as it is intelligently required, not just because it is required. Sometimes, you do not need nudity, you do not need excessive kissing, you do not need all of that to tell a good story,” she said.
She further clarified her stance by giving an example: “For instance, if a couple has been married for 10 years, you do not need to start the scene by showing them in a sexual act.”
While acknowledging that her position could be misunderstood, Bankole emphasised that she would only agree to nude scenes if they are “artistically necessary.”
She also mentioned that, “I do not like that question because the answer would always be taken out of context. This is the internet, after all. I will just say that I can do what is artistically required.”
“How far can you go?”
