Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra, has stated that he absolves their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, of any actions carried out by Biafran agitators.
Ekpa announced this in a video posted to his Twitter account on Sunday.
In the video, he said, “The reason for us not taking orders anymore from the DSS dungeon is to safeguard our leader. We want our leader to be safe, we want to exonerate our leader from anything that Biafrans will be doing for his own best interests.
“So any actions that Biafra people will be taking in Biafra land you don’t attach Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to it. Any actions that Biafrans will be taking in Biafra land for the freedom of Biafra, freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and freedom of all prisoners of conscience you do not bring Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to it.”
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, declared an end to all sit-at-home orders in the South-East and any other proposed means by the group to force the government to release him from detention on Friday.
Kanu made the announcement in a handwritten letter to his special counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, which was read aloud to journalists at a world press conference in Enugu on Friday.
The IPOB leader has stated unequivocally that anyone participating in any sit-in in the region is no longer his disciple.
Kanu issued a written declaration on July 24, 2023, which Ejimakor read, in response to the refusal of the group’s factional leader, Simon Ekpa, to announce the cancellation and further declaration through his media platforms.
