In the wake of the recent abduction of 287 pupils from LEA Primary School and students of Government Secondary School, Kuriga, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, rumors swirled that the state government had enlisted the services of a private negotiator to facilitate their release. However, the Kaduna State government debunked these reports, labeling them false and mischievous.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Shehu, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, it was emphatically stated that the Kaduna State government had not engaged any private negotiator to release the abducted students, nor was it considering such a course of action.
It urged the media to be cautious in the way they publicize security stories in order not to hamper the efforts of government and security agencies.
