The Kaduna State PDP has expressed its rejection of the recent judgment by the Kaduna governorship election petition tribunal.
The judgement affirmed the victory of Uba Sani from the APC as the state’s governor.
The tribunal upheld Sani’s victory based on technical grounds, with a dissenting verdict of two against one.
It ruled against the PDP and its candidate, Isah Ashiru, for what it considered the premature filing of their pre-hearing application.
The tribunal stated that if the petition had not been dismissed on technical grounds, it would have ordered a supplementary election in 22 polling units within 90 days.
In response, Alberah Catoh, the publicity secretary of Kaduna PDP, announced in a statement on Friday that the party would seek redress at the Court of Appeal.
Catoh argued that the verdict was inconsistent with electoral laws, guidelines, and regulations.
“The party has accordingly directed its lawyers to appeal the judgment at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, within the timeframe specified by law,” the statement added.
The decision to challenge Sani’s election was made after the tribunal confirmed it on Thursday.
