The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has criticized the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) for selling petrol from the Dangote Refinery at a higher price than imported fuel.
IPMAN’s National Welfare Officer, John Kekeocha, expressed this concern during an interview on Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Monday.
“It doesn’t make sense for NNPC to sell Dangote products at a higher price than imported ones. What is the point of the celebration we’ve been having all this time?” Kekeocha questioned.
NNPCL began distributing its first batch of petrol from the Dangote Refinery on Sunday, acquiring it at ₦898 per litre from the private refinery. Previously, NNPCL retail outlets in Lagos sold petrol for around ₦855 per litre before sourcing from Dangote.
Now, the price of petrol from the Dangote Refinery has increased to ₦950 per litre in Lagos and ₦1,019 in Borno.
