Insecurity: 15 school children abducted in Sokoto

In a recent attack on Gidan Bukaso village, Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State, bandits abducted 15 Tsangaya school children and a woman. The incident, confirmed by police authorities, occurred around 10:00 am as the bandits invaded the community.

According to Ahmed Rufai, spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, the assailants targeted the Sangaya Islamic School owned by Malam Liman Abubakar, where they seized the children and the woman.

While fortunately, no casualties were reported, law enforcement swiftly mobilized for a rescue operation to secure the safe return of the abducted individuals.

The abduction occurred just hours before Sokoto State Government’s ceremony for the passing out of its Community Guards Corps, a security outfit aimed at combatting banditry and other crimes in the North-West State.

This incident adds to the growing wave of student kidnappings in Nigeria, following closely on the heels of the recent abduction of nearly 200 students in Kaduna State.
