INEC has stated that it is investigating reports of pre-filled result sheets in some polling units in Kogi state during the ongoing off-cycle governorship elections.
Social media had been abuzz with reports of filled result sheets before the commencement of voting in Kogi.
The electoral commission is looking into the matter to ensure the integrity of the election process.
“Our attention has been drawn to a report that filled result sheets were discovered in some polling units in Kogi State. The Commission views this situation seriously,” the statement posted on X reads.
The pre-filled sheets were allegedly discovered in Kogi’s PU 004, Eni Ward of Ogori/Magongo.
“Our senior officials deployed to the state are currently investigating the incident(s). The Commission will communicate its decision earnestly,” INEC said.
