Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike says he is working with President Bola Tinubu to deliver on the promise of “renewed hope” for Nigerians.
Wike told Channels Television on Wednesday that he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and does not work for the party.
Wike’s appointment as a minister in Tinubu’s cabinet following his victory in the February presidential election has elicited mixed reactions.
When asked about his PDP membership status during the interview, the former Rivers governor stated that he is still a member of the party.
“I feel at home working for the government of Tinubu. He has given me that courage and he is a man who means well for the country,” he said.
“He is looking for people who will support him to achieve the renewed hope he promised Nigerians.
“I’m not here to work for a party. I’m here to support the president who has confidence in me — to help him deliver the renewed hope and I owe nobody any apology.”
When asked what will be his next line of action should the election tribunal sack Tinubu, Wike said the God he serves will not allow that happen to him.
“I have never failed. I strongly believe that the God I serve is not a sleeping God,” he said.
He added that he believes the God that made him go through all these processes will not just abandon him like that.
Wike said he is happy that he stood for justice and fairness during the 2023 elections.
