Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has addressed misconceptions about his background, emphasizing that he hails from a respectable family despite what some may believe.
During a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri in Delta State on Saturday, Davido acknowledged that while his celebrity status might sometimes lead to controversial behavior, it doesn’t reflect a lack of proper upbringing.
“I was raised by great parents and come from a very respectful family. But occasionally, as OBO (a star), I might act out of character,” he stated.
This clarification comes after fellow artist Wizkid appeared to throw shade at Davido’s family, insinuating that the ‘OBO’ singer hadn’t been well-raised. Wizkid took to his X account, writing, “When you see people whose parents and family trained them, you can tell! You won’t see my uncle dancing online!”—a reference to Davido’s uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is famously known as the ‘Dancing Governor’ due to his viral dance videos.
