Asue Ighodalo has emerged as the winner and flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State, slated for September 21, 2024. The announcement came following the primary election held in Benin City, Edo State, where Ighodalo secured a resounding victory.
The primary election, overseen by the Chief Returning Officer and Governor of Zamfara State, H.E. Dauda Lawal, witnessed 584 votes cast. Out of these, Asue Ighodalo garnered an impressive 577 votes, affirming his widespread support and endorsement within the party.
In his acceptance speech, Ighodalo expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received from party members and pledged to run a campaign based on inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. He emphasized his commitment to addressing the pressing challenges facing Edo State and outlined his vision for driving sustainable development, promoting social justice, and fostering unity and cohesion within the state.
