Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, widely known as Ayra Starr and nominated for a Grammy in the Best African Music Performance category for her song ‘Rush,’ has disclosed that she has already prepared her acceptance speech.
In an interview with Cool FM Nigeria, the Mavin Records artist expressed confidence in her readiness to receive the award despite facing strong competition.
“I have my Grammys speech ready. It is quite long because it is the first African category. I already know my walk, my outfit,” Ayra Starr said.
The singer shared her plans for celebration if she wins, saying, “The first thing I would do when I win the award is to go to a Chinese restaurant and eat and then video call my mum.”
The 66th Grammy Awards are scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in Los Angeles.
Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ will be competing for the inaugural Best African Music Performance award alongside other notable tracks, including Davido’s ‘Unavailable,’ Asake and Olamide’s ‘Amapiano,’ Burna Boy’s ‘City Boys,’ and Tyla’s ‘Water.’
