‘I didn’t make any profit from Gwo Gwo Ngwo challenge’ – Brain Jotter

He said no dime was made from the song and the N2 million he gave him was from his personal hard-earned money.

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Chukwuebuka Amuzie, better known as Brain Jotter, has responded to the viral report regarding the potential exploitation of Mike Ejeagha’s 1983 hit song “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”.

The song has recently gained renewed attention due to a trending dance challenge initiated by Brain Jotter.

The video has amassed 29.1 million views and over 30,000 comments on Instagram, as well as 19.6 million views and over 23,000 comments on TikTok.

The 93-year-old Ejeagha and his song have become a topic of interest among netizens, with many expressing goodwill. Brain Jotter offered him N2 million in support.

While some considered this a generous gesture, others accused Brain Jotter of copyright infringement.

In response to the accusations, Brain Jotter addressed the issue in a viral video on Tuesday, stating, “For those thinking we ripped him off or are making money from this whole thing, I understand your concerns and they are very valid.

“I appreciate that you want him to receive value for his hard work, which is very valid, and I want you to understand that you are doing something good.

“At the end of the day, no dime was made from this song by me, nothing like that. The N2 million I gave him was from my personal hard-earned money. I did that just for humanity and not for profit.”
