The administration of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, strongly condemns the actions of individuals who invaded the hospital, causing damage to its Accident and Emergency Complex in response to a man’s death.
Prof. Kayode Olabanji, the Chief Medical Director of EKSUTH, expressed dismay at the incident, stating that the hoodlums forcibly took the deceased man’s corpse from the Accident and Emergency Ward.
The CMD, in a statement by the management signed by the Head, Corporate Affairs Department, Rolake Adewumi, said, “Management will not tolerate any act of violence or mayhem being unleashed on members of staff of the hospital.”
The management, in collaboration with police authorities, held a meeting with the state Chairman of the Road Transport Association, tasking him to identify and produce the ringleader, as it was reported that the person involved was a member of the association.
“The management has stationed four armed policemen at the Accident and Emergency as well as two armed policemen at the main gate to strengthen the security of the hospital until further notice.”
Olabanji assured that the individual involved in a previous incident at the Neo-Natal Ward would face legal consequences, as the case is already in court.
He urged staff members to remain calm, emphasizing the management’s commitment to preventing such incidents in the future and ensuring the safety of its staff.
