Gunmen are said to have abducted seven members of the same family and shot two police officers in the federal capital territory‘s (FCT) Bwari area council.
The gunmen were said to have attacked the family members’ home in Zuma 1 in the early hours of Thursday.
According to sources, when the bandits broke into their home, the affected family members quickly informed their relative, Alhaji, of the situation.
Alhaji was said to have quickly informed the police of the family members’ predicament.
The gunmen allegedly exchanged gunfire with police officers who attempted to stop the abduction.
Alhaji was reportedly shot dead, while the two police officers were injured during the gunfight.
When contacted for comment, Josephine Adeh, the FCT police command’s spokesperson, did not return calls or messages.
In recent times, there has been a spate of bandit attacks in and around Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. Due to the constant attacks, some families have relocated from the area.
