Unknown gunmen, believed to be sea pirates, have abducted at least 10 travelers along the Bonny-Port Harcourt waterway.
The incident took place in the early hours of Monday.
Israel Pepple, Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State District, confirmed the incident, stating, “This is not a rumor; it is real. Ten people were kidnapped this morning while traveling from Bonny to Port Harcourt. We have reported the matter to the security agencies.”
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, mentioned that he had not yet been briefed on the situation but promised to provide more information soon.
