On Sunday, unidentified gunmen infiltrated Sagwari Layout Estate in the Dutse area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), abducting at least 10 individuals.

Eyewitnesses reported that the kidnappers, disguised as herders, entered the estate in the evening around 7:30 pm.

Initial information indicates that eight people were taken from the estate, while two hotel staff members were abducted from a nearby hotel.

A distressed victim, who sent a message to the estate’s WhatsApp group, indicated that his family was in jeopardy before ceasing to respond to messages shortly after.

Security forces have been mobilized and are collaborating with estate security personnel to search the hills behind the estate.

A security operative who was assaulted and restrained by the kidnappers has been rescued.

Efforts to reach FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, for comments proved unsuccessful as repeated calls to her phone went unanswered.

However, a call to the Police emergency call center confirmed that the command was aware of the incident, and the nearest Divisional Police Officer (DPO) had been notified to deploy personnel to the scene.
