Rashid Bawa, Ghana‘s high commissioner to Nigeria, has died.
He was reported to have died in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Thursday.
President Nana Akufo-Addo appointed Bawa as High Commissioner to Nigeria in 2017.
Bawa, a Ghanaian politician, diplomat, and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), served as Ghana’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2008.
From 2001 to January 2005, he served in Ghana’s parliament as an independent candidate for the Akan constituency.
Bawa’s death comes just days after that of John Kumah, Ghana’s deputy minister of finance and member of parliament for the Ejisu constituency.
Kumah was described as a politician who served the country with “great enthusiasm and devotion” by Akufo-Addo.
“His unwavering dedication to service, his tireless commitment to the betterment of our nation, and his profound passion for uplifting the lives of the people of Ejisu and Ghana were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing him,” the president said.
