Fire has engulfed a section of the Rivers state house of assembly complex in Port Harcourt.
The incident occurred around 10 pm on Sunday.
It has been reported that the fire affected the hallowed chamber of the assembly.
Fortunately, firefighters were able to prevent the flames from consuming the entire complex.
The timing of this fire is noteworthy, given recent rumors of lawmakers planning to initiate impeachment proceedings against Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers state.
These speculations emerged amid reported tensions between Governor Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of the state and current minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).
