The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
This was announced in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
According to the statement, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed the government’s message, congratulating Muslims both in Nigeria and abroad on the occasion.
Tunji-Ojo encouraged the Muslim community, and all Nigerians, to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience. He also urged them to use this period to pray for lasting peace and greater prosperity for the nation.
