The Federal Government has temporarily shut down some sections of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
This closure impacts the ramps providing access to Adekunle and Ebute Meta for the next two weeks.
During this time, the main deck of the bridge remains open to traffic.
Repair work will commence immediately on the closed sections for two weeks, followed by three weeks of work on the other two ramps leading to Oworonshoki and Lagos Island.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as Ikorodu Road, Murtala Mohammed Way, Ojota, and Gbagada while these repairs take place.
The repairs are part of a comprehensive maintenance effort, with the goal of resurfacing the entire stretch of the bridge with minimal disruption to road users.
The repairs are scheduled to be conducted during weekend nights.
The Third Mainland Bridge previously underwent repairs from July 24, 2020, to January 24, 2021, during which bearings and worn-out expansion joints were replaced.
