The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) raided the 4U supermarket in the Wuse 2 area of Abuja.
The supermarket was raided on Thursday after an enforcement team led by Adamu Ahmed Abdullahi, FCCPC acting executive vice chair, went there.
Before the raid, the FCCPC urged Nigerians on April 17 to report businesses that were raising prices of goods, claiming that despite the naira’s appreciation against the dollar, commodity costs were still rising.
The commission stated that it will monitor and investigate price increases in the markets to protect consumers from exploitation.
The FCCPC stated that it was aware of Nigerians’ concerns about rising prices for goods and services.
On February 16, FCCPC sealed Sahad Stores, a supermarket located in the Garki area of Abuja for engaging in “misleading pricing and lack of transparency in pricing”.
