Enyimba FC, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) giants, has announced the dismissal of its head coach, Yemi Olanrewaju.
The club made the announcement on Saturday through a social media post, thanking the 32-year-old coach for his services and wishing him success in his future endeavours.
“Enyimba FC can confirm that it has parted ways with head coach Yemi Olanrewaju.
The club thanks Coach Olanrewaju for his services and wishes him the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Olanrewaju, who was appointed seven months ago following the departure of Finidi George, departs amidst a challenging period for the club. Enyimba are on a nine-match winless streak across all competitions, including six consecutive league draws.
Their poor run in the CAF Confederations Cup has seen them at the bottom of Group D, with just one point from three matches.
The coach’s dismissal came 48 hours after a disappointing draw against Plateau United in the NPFL. Enyimba, the league’s most successful club, currently sits in 11th position on the table with 23 points from 15 matches.
During his tenure, Olanrewaju managed 26 matches, securing nine wins and seven losses. Despite his previous roles as an assistant manager at Magate FC, MFM, and Vandrezzer, his time with Enyimba failed to deliver the desired results for the club.
