In response to the recent abduction of children in Northern Nigeria, the Northern Elders Forum has issued a stern warning, declaring, “Enough is enough.” Following the safe return of the abducted Kuriga school children, the forum emphasized the urgent need for proper medical and shock checks as the children reintegrate into society.
Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the Director of Publicity and Advocacy/spokesperson for the forum, expressed joy at the return of the children but underscored the pressing need for enhanced security measures. He emphasized that the safety and security of children should never be compromised or subject to negotiation, stressing the unacceptable living conditions under insecurity in the northern region.
The forum lamented what it perceived as signs of failure in providing essential security under the Tinubu administration and called for immediate attention from leaders. While celebrating the children’s return, the forum recognized the incident as a wake-up call, urging vigilance and concerted efforts to combat violence and safeguard human life.
Furthermore, the forum urged the government and relevant authorities to collaborate to ensure safe school environments. It emphasized the importance of prioritizing children’s safety and well-being and called for accountability and swift action from leaders to address security challenges.
