Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has issued a directive to security agencies in the state to uncover the assailants responsible for the tragic killing of two traditional rulers on Monday.
The victims, Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti, were ambushed and fatally shot by suspected kidnappers while returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti.
Governor Oyebanji, who condemned the heinous attack in a statement released by his media aide, Yinka Oyebode, vowed to leave “no stone unturned” in the quest for justice. Security agents have been deployed to the Oke-Ako area in the Ikole Local Government Area, where the incident occurred.
Having just chaired a state security council meeting in Ado-Ekiti shortly before the incident, the governor expressed his condolences to the affected communities. He urged the Imojo Ekiti and Esun Ekiti residents to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
In the statement, Governor Oyebanji emphasized the commitment of the government to ensure justice is served. He charged security agencies in the state to maintain vigilance and persist in their efforts to eradicate crime and criminality.
