INEC declares APC’s Okpebholo winner of Edo governorship election

The results indicate that APC won in 11 of the state's 18 local government areas (LGAs), while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, secured victories in 7 LGAs.

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, is leading in the total results of Saturday’s Edo State governorship election announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

As of the latest updates, Returning Officer Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, has not yet declared an official winner. The results indicate that APC won in 11 of the state’s 18 local government areas (LGAs), while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo, secured victories in 7 LGAs.

Okpebholo received 291,667 votes, while Ighodalo garnered 247,274 votes, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party received 18,737 votes. The election involved a total of 2.2 million registered voters across 4,519 polling units in Edo State.

The new winner will succeed outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki at Osadebe House. Below are the detailed results from several LGAs:
