DSS storms rights group, SERAP’s Office in Abuja

The organization stated that the officers were demanding to see the rights group’s directors.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has reported that officers from the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken over its Abuja office.

In a statement posted on its X handle on Monday, SERAP condemned the action, calling it an “unlawful occupation.”

The organization stated that the DSS officers were insisting on meeting with its directors.

SERAP urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene and instruct the DSS to cease what it described as “harassment, intimidation, and an attack on the rights of Nigerians.”

The statement reads: “Officers from Nigeria’s State Security Service (SSS) are currently unlawfully occupying SERAP’s office in Abuja, requesting to see our directors.

“President Tinubu must immediately direct the SSS to stop the harassment, intimidation, and attack on the rights of Nigerians.”

This is coming after the rights group had urged President Tinubu to direct the National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, to quickly reverse the outrageous pump price of premium motor spirit, PMS.
