DSS seals clinic in Plateau community over quackery

The sealing of the clinic is as a result of the death of a woman who was admitted last week in the clinic.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has closed down AL-Ihsan Clinic in Ungwan Rogo Community, Jos North local government area of Plateau State, following allegations of quackery and the death of a patient who received treatment there.

The closure stems from the demise of a woman admitted to the clinic last week. Her death, reportedly due to a surgery performed by a purported doctor at the clinic, sparked various reactions within the community.

Residents attribute the woman’s demise to a poorly executed surgery by the alleged unqualified doctor, raising concerns about his medical expertise.

According to sources within the community, the DSS took action following complaints lodged by some community members with the Plateau State Ministry of Health.

A resident, Sadis Muhammad Albasu, who shared the account of the situation.
said, ‘’The primary reason for sealing the hospital is the alleged quackery activities at the clinic, which came to light after a woman’s death following a surgical procedure there.”

“The issue is that the doctor who carried out the surgery is not a qualified medical doctor; in fact, he is not a doctor at all, and therefore lacks the necessary skills to perform surgical procedures.

“A lot of people have been complaining and that was why the matter was reported to the Plateau State Ministry of Health for necessary actions. He is currently schooling but he has been carrying out surgeries in the community,” Albasu added.
