Court strikes out DSS application to detain Emefiele for 14 days

The Department of State Services (DSS) has charged Godwin Emefiele to court.

This was released in a press statement by the department’s public relations officer, Peter Afunanya.

According to Afunanya, the arrest is in compliance with an Abuja High Court Order. The order was said to have been issued on July 13, 2023.

The charge is coming after the DSS had applied to detain Emefiele in 2022, but he obtained a restraining order from an FCT High Court.

However, in June 2023, the DSS arrested him based on suspected new criminal infractions.

The DSS emphasizes its commitment to professionalism, justice, and fairness in handling the matter.

They assure the public of a thorough and fair judicial process, conducted within the boundaries of the law.

Further updates on the case will be provided in due course.
