Renowned Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has clarified that Bobrisky only reached out to him for financial assistance while in prison.
Bobrisky was sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to naira mutilation following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was released on August 5, 2024.
On September 24, 2024, activist and social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an alleged voice recording of Bobrisky. In the recording, Bobrisky claimed that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son, Falz, helped him get the EFCC to drop money laundering charges while he was incarcerated.
In response to the public outrage that followed, Falz, through his lawyers at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, denied ever initiating contact with Bobrisky during his time in prison. He clarified that the crossdresser only approached him for financial support, requesting N3 million to pay officials in exchange for staying in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.
In a viral letter shared on social media, Falz also criticized VeryDarkMan for publishing unfounded allegations against him without verifying the facts or reaching out for his side of the story.
