Activist and social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has explained why he will not honor an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding corruption allegations against officials of the agency.
VeryDarkMan had earlier shared an audio recording, allegedly of popular social media figure Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky claimed he paid N15 million to have a money laundering charge dropped. Following this, the EFCC invited both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to their Lagos office to assist in investigating the bribery allegations.
However, on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan said he won’t be honouring the invite to Lagos because he does not reside there and was not sure of his fate if he goes. He, instead, asked the anti-graft agency to invite them to their office in Abuja.
He also criticized the EFCC for not ensuring Bobrisky served his prison term.
“Before inviting me, the EFCC should first investigate its own officers. Once you have results from the officers who handled Bobrisky’s case, then you can invite me,” he said. “Asking me to come to Lagos when the EFCC headquarters is in Abuja makes no sense. You should invite Bobrisky to Abuja for the investigation.”
He concluded by saying, “I won’t go to Lagos because I don’t have N15 million to pay anyone. I don’t have godfathers, and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust the process, and I won’t go.”
Bobrisky has denied paying N15 million to have the charges dropped, dismissing the audio recording as fake.
