The national electricity grid has suffered another system failure, resulting in a nationwide blackout.
Electricity distribution companies (DisCos) confirmed the system failure in separate statements on Monday.
In a statement issued on Monday, Friday Adakole Elijah, head of corporate affairs for Jos Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo), stated that the current outage in its franchise states is caused by a loss of power from the national grid.
He said:
“The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred in the early hours at about 0242 hours of today, Monday, 15th April 2024, hence the loss of power supply on all our feeders.”
He stated that the grid would be restored for improved power supply to its customers.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company (DisCo) also stated that there has been a disruption “in our services which is due to load shedding from TCN on Annex, CIG, Dideolu, Etim Inyang, Palace Road and Rocky Estate feeders in Islands district”.
Eko DisCo said:
“Affected areas are Jubril Martins, Ajose Adeogun, Younis Bashorun, Fatai Durosinmi-Etiti Crescent, Muri Okunola, Ligali Ayonrinde, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Chief Yesufu Abiodun Way, Palace Road, Dideolu Estate, Etim Inyang Crescent and Ademola Adetokunbo.”
“We sincerely apologise for our inability to meet up with the required service level in the past 2 days.”
