The national grid has collapsed for the second time in three days. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) confirmed this in a statement.
Previous data obtained from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) showed that power generation dropped to zero megawatts at 11:30 a.m., affecting generation companies across the country.
Recovery is still ongoing
According to the statement, the TCN is actively engaged in significant repair work to fully restore the grid. The Abuja axis was immediately restored 28 minutes after the collapse.
Other parts of the grid are being worked to restore normalcy. This includes the 330kV transmission lines along the Shiroro–Mando axis, major upgrades at the Jebba Transmission Substation, and the restoration of the second Ugwuaji–Apir 330kV transmission line.
