Adegoke's Case: Court sentences Adedoyin to death by hanging

The popular hotel owner, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, has been found guilty in the murder of Timothy Adegoke, a former master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, whose death occurred between November 5 and 7, 2021, at Hilton Honours Hotel, Ile-Ife.

While delivering her decision in the case, Osun Chief Judge Adepele Ojo stated that the circumstantial evidence available to the court pointed to Adegoke’s murder while he was a guest at Adedoyin’s hotel.

According to her, Adedoyin’s refusal to testify did not help him because circumstantial evidence had shifted the burden of proof to him.

Justice Ojo also stated that Adedoyin’s refusal to testify meant he agreed to the murder charge brought by the prosecution, dismissing the alibi pleaded on his behalf by his counsel, who stated that the hotel owner was in Abuja for several days around the time of the late Adegoke’s death.
