Bandits

Once again, bandits have carried out attacks in Kaduna State, resulting in the death of a local hunter, Bashir Unguwar Shekarau, as well as two commercial drivers, Mustapha Adamu and Malam Muktar, also known as “Teacher,” along the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway.

The local hunter was fatally shot while patrolling the highway, and the two drivers were targeted by bandits while returning to Birnin Gwari around 3:30pm on Saturday when bandits opened fire on their vehicles.

A resident of Birnin Gwari and relative of one of the victims, Shehu Randagi, said that another driver also lost his eyes after being hit by a bullet, adding that the driver was receiving treatment at Birnin Gwari Hospital.

“Our hunters were attacked, resulting in the death of one on Wednesday. That was before the Saturday attack that claimed the lives of two commercial drivers along the highway,” he stated.

The community is mourning the frequent loss of lives in the area, with special funeral prayers being held almost daily for those who have gone missing.

The state’s police public relations officer (PPRO) was not reachable on phone at the time of this report.
