Bandits have abducted an unspecified number of school children in Kaduna state.

The bandits were said to have stormed the Local Education Authority (LEA) Primary School in Kuriga, Chikun LGA, around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed the incident.

However, Hassan did not provide any details about the incident.

He stated that a police tactical team had been deployed to apprehend the criminals and rescue the victims.

“I am attending a security meeting, but a police tactical team has been deployed to go after the criminals by combing the bushes to rescue the victims,” Hassan said.

“This is all I can say for now.”

When the bandits were spotted on the school grounds, many of the students reportedly fled their classrooms.

According to reports, the bandits took the kidnapped students and staff into the bush and shot them indiscriminately.

On Wednesday, over 200 internally displaced persons (IDPs) were abducted from their camp in Ngala LGA, Borno state.

The abductees, including women, boys, and girls, were kidnapped while searching for firewood.
