First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and intervention for individuals with autism.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in observance of World Autism Awareness Day, Mrs. Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties faced by families caring for loved ones with autism and praised their love and commitment.
“As we commemorate World Autism Awareness Day, I applaud the unique strengths and creativity of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder,” the statement read.
She further stated, “The journey for families with autistic loved ones can be challenging. Today, I honor and celebrate their unwavering love and dedication.”
Mrs. Tinubu also highlighted the essential role of community organizations in offering support, resources, and opportunities to individuals with autism and their families.
“Early diagnosis and intervention are vital to ensuring that individuals with autism can reach their full potential. I encourage parents and caregivers to stay mindful of developmental milestones and seek professional help if any concerns arise,” she added.
Additionally, Mrs. Tinubu advocated for a world where everyone is empowered, included, and celebrated for their unique abilities, regardless of their challenges.
The Ferdinand Effah Music Heritage Foundation has also called for inclusive development to promote good health and well-being for individuals with autism.
