The Kano state governorship election dispute will be heard by the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Friday, November 17.
The verdict will be announced at 10 a.m.
On November 6, the appellate court reserved judgment in the case.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Yusuf Gawuna was declared the duly elected governor of the state by the election tribunal. But the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) candidate Abba Yusuf was declared the winner.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Yusuf the election winner after he received 1,019,602 votes. He defeated his closest rival, Gawuna, who received 890,705 votes.
The tribunal deducted 165,663 votes from Yusuf’s total vote count because the ballot papers (165,663) were not stamped, signed, and dated as required by law.
After the deduction, Yusuf had 853,939 votes.
The court ruled that the 165,663 votes cast on the affected ballot papers were invalid. INEC was then ordered to issue a certificate of return to the APC candidate.
Yusuf later appealed the tribunal’s decision.
