APC’s Laguda wins Surulere reps by-election, replaces Gbajabiamila

The 46-year-old former chairman of Surulere will now replace former Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila in the House of Representatives.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Fuad Laguda, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the Surulere federal constituency 1 by-election in Lagos state.

Simeon Adebayo, the returning officer, announced that Laguda received 11,203 votes.

His main opponent, Adeola Adebanjo of the Labour Party (LP), received 240 votes, while Jerry Afemighie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 278.

Prior to this, Laguda defeated party hopefuls Kabir Lawal, Jamila Omobolanle, and Abdul Raheem Owokoniran in the primary election for the party’s ticket.

He received all 30 votes of the delegates who voted in the election.
