The All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 21 seats in Kogi’s LGA elections on Saturday.
Mamman Nda-Eri, chairman of the INEC Nigeria – Independent National Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), declared the results.
Nda-Eri stated that the APC won all 239 councillorship seats in the state.
He praised the LGA elections as “peaceful, free, and fair”.
Nda-Eri as said:
“APC performed excellently; it cleared all the chairmanship and councillorship positions, leaving nothing to the other 18 political parties that took part in the election.”
“The results declared at the headquarters were earlier declared at the various collations centres by the respective returning officers.
“As chairman of KOSIEC, I hereby confirm the results earlier collated and returned by the returning officers.”
The KOSIEC chairman expressed gratitude to election officials, security personnel, observers, and journalists for their contributions to the success of the electoral process.
Notably, a woman won the chairperson position in Ogori-Magongo LGA.
Before the elections, the Kogi APC reserved LGA vice-chairperson posts for women.
The APC also decided to reserve 40% of its councillorship seats for female candidates.
