The Ogun state government falls victim to a hack attack, as reported by TheCable on Wednesday morning.
The hackers, identifying themselves as Aliester Crowley under the name “Anon Ghost,” claim to operate from the Maldives.
“We are Anon Ghost,” reads a bold inscription on the website under what appears to be the logo of the hackers.
“We are legend, we do not forgive, we do not forget, expect us.
“Hacked by Aliester Crowley. Update your security! Greetings from the Maldives.
“Find me on YouTube,” the hackers added.
The recent cyber-attack on the Ogun state government not only led to defacing of all website pages but also highlights previous attacks.
In 2015, the state government faced a similar attack, urging them to enhance their security measures.
Other Nigerian government websites, including the NPHCDA, NDDC, EFCC, INEC, and NLC, have also fallen victim to hackers.
Kunle Somorin, the chief press secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, expressed unawareness of the situation but assured swift resolution.
“I am not aware of a hack. By who? The cabinet is dissolved at the moment but I will get across to the social media team. I’m sure they will work on it now,” he said.
