Senate President Godswill Akpabio is currently in Luanda, the capital of Angola, to attend the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly.
Akpabio is leading a delegation of four senators and five members of the House of Representatives.
The assembly began on October 21 and is scheduled to conclude on October 27.
Anietie Ekong, the media aide to Akpabio, quoted the Senate President expressing that it would have been a disservice if Nigeria did not participate in the assembly.
“It would have been a disservice to Africa if Nigeria did not have a strong delegation at the IPU. Our presence here is to strengthen our bilateral relationship,” Ekong quoted Akpabio as saying.
“With our presence we can forge a strong bilateral parliamentary relationship for the interest of our nations.”
The environment and sustainable development goals (SDGs) are some of the issues the assembly will discuss.
