Some notable Nigerians have reacted to Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), victory over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the semi-final match.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes. Proceeding to the penalty shootout, Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2.
Reacting, Nigeria’s football legend, Kanu Nwakwo tweeted: “KAN U believe this? What a feeling……The super eagles are in great spirits. Ready to fly to the finals. #afcon2023 We dey here.”
The Director General, World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, tweeted: “We got it done!! Our very own @NGSuperEagles did it. Congratulations!! You have put a smile on all our faces.
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President of Nigeria tweeted: “Finals. Congratulations, @NGSuperEagles !!! -AA”
Peter Obi, in a tweet after the game wrote, “Today was yet another victorious outing for Nigeria as our National Team, the Super Eagles displayed great fighting spirit, beating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa to take Nigeria to the finals in the ongoing AFCON games.”
Governor Adeleke, Osun State governor, tweeted after the game: ” I had a great time watching @NGSuperEagles as they played South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at the just concluded Semi Finals #AFCON game. It was an intense game, I’m glad our guys gave a good account of themselves. Looking forward to the finals.”
Nigeria Super Eagles will now face Ivory Coast in the final match on Sunday.
