Abubakar Kyari, deputy national chairman (north) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is currently presiding over a meeting of the party’s national working committee (NWC).

The development came hours after Abdullahi Adamu, national chairman of the party, resigned from office.

Emma Enukwu, deputy national chairman (south); Isaac Kekemeke, vice-chairman south-west; Salihu Lukman, vice-chairman north-west; and Festus Fuanter, deputy national legal secretary; are among those attending the meeting at the party’s headquarters on Monday.

There is heavy presence of security personnel around the headquarters of the party located in the Wuse 2 district of the federal capital territory (FCT).

Adamu was absent at the meeting, while Iyiola Omisore, national secretary of the APC, arrived at the venue late, but left sooner.

Those in the know revealed that Omisore was excluded from the meeting.

TheCable had reported how Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo state and chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), advised Adamu to resign due to a prolonged cold war with President Bola Tinubu.

In the build-up to the national elective convention that saw Adamu become APC chairman, Tinubu had supported Tanko Al-Makura, a former senator and ally, for the position.

Adamu was elected chairman after enjoying the support of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Also, while the party was in the process of choosing its presidential candidate, Adamu openly supported Ahmad Lawan, a former president of the senate.

Adamu has reportedly been unable to account for the over N30 billion accrued to the party from the sales of nomination forms before the just concluded general election.
